When our staff and NCCC Silver 1 crew heard our friends at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park had had some of their exhibits damaged by the winter storm, we pulled on our work boots and headed out for a community service clean-up day. The weather was great and spirits were high, and in four hours, four very full dump trucks of downed trees and brush were hauled away from the Black Bear Enclosure.
We were happy for the opportunity to get to know Silver 1 better while providing a helping hand to a local organization in need. NW Trek has another volunteer day scheduled this Saturday, February 11th, and plans to reopen all exhibits by February 17th. To learn more or help out, check out www.nwtrek.org.
